With six weeks to the finals, the eight teams to participate in the forthcoming Ashbourne Competition hosted by Cork IT have been finalised.

UUJ and last years Purcell Cup winners Athlone IT have successfully navigated their way through the qualifiers and will join UCC, Cork IT, UCD, Waterford IT, UL and NUIG in the quarterfinals which will be played on or before the 6th February.

The draws for the quarter finals have also been made and throw up some intriguing ties.  Last years Ashbourne Cup winners WIT will take on hosts CIT at the Cork venue, whilst UCC will also have a home venue against rivals UL. Purcell Cup winners Athlone IT will play UUJ and after winning comprehensively in the league UUJ will be expected to come through this challenge.  The remaining quarter final will see beaten 2009 finalists UCD play host to NUIG.

The Purcell qualifiers will also take place in the next few weeks.  Athlone IT have moved into the Ashbourne and Gardai college have moved down from the Ashbourne and should be favourites for the competition along with Mary I.
