Niamh Mallon and Catherine McGourty shone as Ulster won the Junior Interprovincial title in Rathleague, Co. Laois.
The Down duo proved unstoppable in the final, with the former providing an all-round performance in both semi-final and final to be named player of the tournament.
The northern outfit beat Leinster in a cracking semi-final at the Laois venue, coming out on top by 3-16 to 3-12. They actually trailed by a point entering the closing stages but scored the last five to book their spot in the final.
Munster provided the opposition after they had edged out Connacht by the minimum in their qualifier by 2-13 to 3-9. They got off to the perfect start in the decider, and led by 1-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes, with Waterford teenager, Beth Carton in outstanding form.
Crucially though, McGourty scored the first of her two goals and Ulster trailed by just 1-6 to 1-3 having played into a very strong wind.
The exceptional Mallon in particular used the elements to her advantage as she slotted point after point from play and when McGourty found the Munster net once more, Ulster moved inexorably clear. Another major sealed the result and Ulster prevailed by 3-15 to 1-10.
