Limerick racked up an impressive 5-13 to 2-6 against Galway at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday afternoon with corner forward Eileen O’Brien contributing 3-2 of her side’s total. O’Brien was on target five minutes into the first half and completed her hat-trick by half-time with Vera Sheehan and Miriam Fitzgerald chipping in with a goal apiece. Limerick were dominant throughout with Niamh Mulcahy picking off five superb points, one from a free while Kerry Brosnan and Kate Campbell pointed two each from play. Galway’s Aoife Donohue and Fiona Kealy were best for the Westerners both adding 1-1 from play while Tracy Murray hit 0-3.
Offaly, the Division two national league finalists had a fine win over Cork on a score line of 3-14 to 0-10. Siobhan Flannery was in top form hitting an impressive 2-7, all from play while Elaine Darmody scored 1-4 (0-3fs) and Arlene Watkins chipped in with 0-3. Cork’s Denise Luby hit 0-6 (0-4fs, 1 45) for the Rebels with Samantha Cooney adding 0-2 and Linda Dorgan and Charlotte Kearney adding a point each.
Derry’s Grainne McGoldrick capped a fine individual performance on Sunday afternoon with a superb nine points (two from frees) as her side defeated Tipperary 3-20 to 2-6. The Munster side had no answer to a powerful Derry outfit that finished their league campaign on a winning note. Meanwhile, in the remaining Division two fixture Waterford defeated Down 3-9 to 1-9 with Waterford forward Aine Lyng leading the way with a personal tally of 1-4 (0-1f).
