Derry retained their Ulster Under 16 title after a thrilling encounter in Swatragh which saw them overcome Antrim 3-9 to 0-9.

The game was fast flowing with both sides exchanging scores but Antrim had the upper hand at half time leading by two. Ruby Marie Rice and Niamh Donnelly both had a fine game combining well to cause the Derry defence all sorts of difficulty.

Derry came out stronger in the second-half and found themselves level after two well taken Karen Keilt frees. Most of the Derry attacks followed through Derry‘s two College All-Stars Karen Keilt and Grainne McNicholl and Keilt herself registered a classy 1-6.

Dervla McGuckin sealed the victory for Derry when she rounded her marker to hand-pass the ball beyond Antrim ækeeper Clare McCarry.

Antrim did threaten a comeback when the ball broke to Anna Kelly in the square but Megan Kerr and Rebecca Ferguson took no chances and cleared their line. Dervla McGuckin then sealed the victory for Derry with a finely taken goal after rounding her marker to hand-pass the ball beyond McCarry.
