After only four years in existence, the growth of Bredagh Camogie has exceeded all expectations, with approximately 150 players competing from U8 to senior level.

The club owes much of its success to a dynamic committee who have worked tirelessly to nurture and promote the game in the local schools and community.

All the hard work is beginning to pay off as the U14 camogs will make history by representing Down for the first time at the All Ireland Feile in Laois this weekend.

Bredagh qualified for the All Ireland Feile by winning the Co. Down Feile in April where the team progressed to the final without conceding a point and won a fiercely contested final against Ballygalget in front of a large partisan crowd in Portaferry.

Bredagh will compete in Division 2 of the Feile with O’Moore’s (Laois), Camross (Offaly) and Lismore (Waterford) all in the same section.

The team will play host club O’Moore’s on the Friday afternoon and the further two round robin matches on Saturday morning.  The semi-finals are held on the Saturday evening with the final at midday on the Sunday.

The host club, O’Moore’s, is based in Ballyfin, Co. Laois and was set up in 2004 as a result of the amalgamation of two existing clubs, Mountmellick and Slieve Bloom.  In 2007, O’Moore’s won the U12 County final and the U14 Shield final.  Their U14 team went one better in 2008 by winning the County final.
