Wexford bidding for league hat-trick

Wexford senior camogie team are biding for a hat-trick of league titles when they take on Galway in the Irish Daily Star Division One league final on April 17th.

The sides renew their sporting rivalry having met in last year’s All Ireland Senior championship final with the Leinster side securing a two point win.

The current All Ireland senior champions are hoping to add a third consecutive league title, previously capturing the honours in 2009 and 2010, defeating Tipperary and Kilkenny respectively.

Speaking at today’s photocall Camogie President Joan O’Flynn:

“”Winning a national Camogie title is an important achievement. At this stage of the season, coming out on top of a competitive campaign to claim a national league title is the ultimate challenge. This year, competition in all divisions was extremely high and I expect each of the four National Finals to serve up great sporting entertainment.””

Ulster side, Antrim through to the Irish Daily Star Division Two final, await the winners of Waterford and Cork in this weekend’s tie to see who they face in their title decider, also on April 17th in Donaghmore Ashbourne.

The Irish Daily Star Division Three final is an all Leinster affair as Kildare, the current All Ireland Junior A champions take on neighbours Meath while in Division Four Cavan face last year’s beaten league finalists Westmeath. Both finals take place on Sunday, April 24th also in Donaghmore Ashbourne.

Eoin Brannigan, Sports Editor of the Irish Daily Star said:

“”Congratulations to all the teams who have made it to this year’s Irish Daily Star League Finals and best wishes for the finals. We, at the Irish Daily Star, have been delighted to be involved with the Camogie Leagues and to provide the best coverage of this national competition. We are looking forward to more top class action on the camogie field in the upcoming weeks and to ensuring high quality coverage of all events.””
