Broadford 0-06 v 4-25 Kilmaley @ Kilkishen

Kilmaley had this far easier than would have expected. A win for either side would have put them through to the semi-final stages of the Senior Championship. Kilmaley though came fighting from the blocks and had 1-03 on the board in the first five minutes. The reigning champions never looked back from there and led by 3-13 to 0-02 at half time thanks to goals from Clare McMahon(2) and Maria Hehir.

They used the experience then to use the full compliment of subs and continued to press forward for the second half finally running out comfortable winners and claim the second spot in their group and a place in the semi-finals. Brodford now face to the Senior B Glenorma Cup.

Clooney 1-13 v 3-04 Wolfe Tones @ Wolfe Tones Camogie Field

Wolfe Tones certainly worked hard and had the visitors under pressure as they lead 1-02 to 0-01 after 17 minutes, the home sides’ goal coming from Emma Ryan. Clooney did equalise by the 23^rd minute through Marie Begley. This was short lived though as Sharon Coleman had the home side a goal to the good just before the break.

The home side registered the first score of the second half when Coleman again pointed but that was their last score for the next 28 minutes as Clooney took hold. They gradually clawed back the lead and went on to win the game.

While Clooney made hard work of the win, they recorded their first points of the competition, this result virtually confirms that both these sides will go forward to compete in the Senior B. Wolfe Tones have one game left but with that against a Sixmilebridge side who are going strong they will be expected to be looking to the Senior B.
and will be hoping that they can now get back into form as they look to set their sights on the Senior B.

Newmarket-on-Fergus 2-12 v 3-07 Sixmilebridge

*This result sees Newmarket secure the top spot in the group. This was a very close game which was level for much of the way through. The sides were locked at the break and they were similarly locked with just two minutes to go. The experience of the Blues brought them home though and they recorded a two point win.
They will now face the runners up in Group 2 which will be determined after the Sixmilebridge v Wolfe Tones game on Friday evening next. A win here will see the æBridge secure the second spot and they will be strong favourites to do so.

Kilnamona top group 2 after they had a wins over Kilmaley and Broadford while Bodyke informed the Board on Saturday morning that they would not be able to field in their game scheduled to take place in Ballyline on Saturday evening at 4pm. Kilmaley are second with Broadford in third and Bodyke bottom
Group 1 has Newmarket-on-Fergus on top with Sixmilebridge and Clooney both on two but Sixmilebridge have a game in hand and Wolfe Tones on bottom place.
Top two teams go through to the Championship semi-finals, where top in 1 plays second in 2 and vice versa. The bottom two will take part in the Glenorma Cup where 3 in group 1plays 4 in group 2 and vice versa.

The semi-finals of both these competitions will take place on Sunday September 20th.

Junior Championship Final

Inagh 4-04 v 0-06 Killanena @ Tulla
Inagh are celebrating their win in the Junior Championship. The conditions in Tulla on Sunday morning were wet and windy and Inagh showed themselves to be stronger and better able to adapt to the conditions. The forward line of Inagh were stronger than that of Killanena and led them to win this years encounter after having lost out at this time last year. They had also lost out in the League final earlier this year and as a result there were great scenes of delight afterwards.

Patricia O’Loughlin had the game of to a flying start with a point inside the opening 30 seconds. Eveleen Glynn had the teams level after 5 minutes with a pointed free. Inagh proved the stronger though over the next 15 minutes as the dominated through the mid-field sector through Patricia McCarthy, Helen Hehir and Emily Lynch. The forward division was then making good use of the supply of ball coming through and Patricia O’Loughlin accounted for 1-1 with Helen Hehir also pointing.

Killanena though didn’t let the heads drop and hit back for two of their own with Leona Leonard and Eveleen O’Brien again converting a free. This brought the East Clare side back to within a goal and set the game up for a lively second half where they would also have the wind at there backs.

Indeed O’Brien had the margin down to two points with just a minute gone in the second half. Inagh though were fast on the attack again and with Anne McNamara getting up high in the Killanena goal to bat out the dropping ball Cathy McNamara was first on hand to the break and whipped the ball to the net. This put the eventual winners back into a five point lead and this would prove too much for Killanena.

Both sides battled on but found scores hard to come by in the slippy conditions with Killanena recording a number of wides. Inagh eventually put the game past Killanena when Sharon Rynne goaled in the 18^th minute of the second half. Patricia O’Loughlin added a further 1-01 while Killanena added points from Eveleen O’Brien and Leona Leonard it wasn’t enough though as a stronger Inagh side won out to claim the title.

This was done even without the services of Emily Lynch for the last 10 minutes as the Inagh captain saw red after a clash with Aoife Collins. The Inagh defense
held strong for the last ten minutes as Aisling Rynne, Gillian Lafferty and Noelle Arthur held their lines through the wave of Killanena attacks.

Cathy McNamara accepted the cup on behalf of the Inagh team afterwards from County secretary Mary Hogan.

Intermediate Championship
Corofin 2-10 v 3-02 Clarecastle
Whitegate 5-10 v 5-08 Ogonnelloe
Truagh got walkover from Scariff

Final round of games in the Intermediate Championship will take place next weekend where Clarecastle v Ogonnelloe, Corofin v Truagh and St. Joseph‘s v Whitegate are the fixtures. A win for St. Joseph’s will see them top the Championship table while the Truagh v Corofin fixture will see positions 3 and 4 filled.

Kilkishen have all their games completed with a bye in the final round and will await the last results to determine their placing. The top four teams in this Championship will go through to the semi-finals where the draw will be 1v 4 and 2v 3. The next four teams will take part in the Intermediate shied where again the draws are 5 v 8 and 6 v7.

These games will take place on Saturday September 19^th. This is a week earlier than listed due to the involvement of some of the girls on these panels being involved with the County Ladies football team that will be in action in Croke Park in the Intermediate Football final on September 26^th.
