Truagh 3.04 v Inniskeen 1.05
Truagh inflicted a wound on the Inniskeen plan for the championship in Clontibret on Wednesday last when they picked up a well-deserved two points. During the first ten minutes of the game the play swung from one goal mouth to the other with both teams finding it hard to get into their comfort zone. The first breakthrough in the game came at eleven minutes after the roaming Sharon McQuillan picked up the ball on the square from a pass from her wing forward and drove home the first score of the game, a goal for Truagh. From the Inniskeen puck out the ball landed mid-field where Isobel Kerians connected and passed it on to Inniskeen full forward Pauline Jones who tipped it over the bar. Truagh were quick in reply with another two well taken points from play by Joanne Meehan and Mairead Mc Carron, at this stage Inniskeen’s midfield and defence were under preasure with Truagh’s attacks. The mid field duo of Orla sheeran and Sharon Mc Quillan for Truagh were constantly foraging around the forty yard line, a scuffle ensued in the Inniskeen goal mouth but keeper Deobrah Meegan got her lines cleared out to the wing where McQuillan was waiting for the loose ball, only to be challenged by Inniskeen and to get a free which she converted to a point. No sooner was the ball pucked out than Truagh were on the attack again, and this time Sharon struck the killer blow with a well-taken goal. Inniskeen however kept motoring and chasing every ball with Sarah Flynn, Maireßd McGahon and the talented Isobel Kierans threatening the Truagh defence. Inniskeen added another point to their score from a free by Pauline Jones with Paula McQuillan from Truagh replying with a point from play. At this stage it just seemed a question of how big a lead Truagh could amass before the break. Inniskeen went on a full out attack and again Pauline Jones was on the prowl, she got the ball into her hands and side stepped the Truagh defence and scored a rasping goal for the Fane siders.
Half time score: Truagh 2-4, Inniskeen 1-2.
Inniskeen had to up their game in the second half and for most of the second half that’s what they did. From the throw in Inniskeen were in the attack and within the first minute Pauline Jones scored a great point from play and this was quickly followed by a point from a free on the 45yard line by Isobel Kierans. At this stage the Inniskeen team were really working well with a great passing game being conducted. Truagh had become quiet but hadn’t gone away. Inniskeen got their final score of the game with a free from Isobel Kierans, at this stage there were only two points between the teams and the game really intensified. With 15 minutes to go Inniskeen lost their mid field player Isobel Kierans through injury , the preasure was piled on Inniskeen now but Truagh were showing no mercy and with five munites to go and with some confusion in the Inniskeen backline Mairead Mc Carron sliped through with an easy goal to ensure victory for Truagh.

Under-15 Trials.
On Saturday last 6 of our up-and-coming stars participated in a second round of Under-15 trials, in M.U.S.A. Cookstown, for an elite coaching camp to be held in U.U.J. Belfast from August 18th -20th. Although Karen Boyle (Clontibret) is safely through from the first round of trials it is hoped that Monaghan will have further representation from some or all of the following: Zoe Brady, Alison Macken, Rachal Markey, Rebecca McNee and Ciara Farrell, all from the Castleblayney Club. All of the players will receive notification in writing in the coming weeks.

Lisdoonan
I believe the clash of the ash is been heard around Park Fontenoy (Donaghmoyne) where a sizable group of players from the Lisdoonan / Donaghmoyne area have come together for training, hopefully this is the birth of a new club in the county, their training nights are Thursdays at 7.30.
Clontibret Notes
Well done to our Senior Team who crossed the first hurdle of the senior championship safely, against Castleblayney, on Wednesday last. While credit goes to all the players on their performance, particular mention must be made of our under-age players, Karen Boyle, Catherine Tomany and Nicola Morgan who made their Senior Championship debuts. Our next match in the competition is against Inniskeen on Monday next, July 14th.
Congratulations to the aforementioned Karen Boyle who has been chosen to partake in an elite Camp for under-age camogie players in August, in U.U.J.Jordanstown. Karen has shown herself to be a really skillful, determined little player, not in the least over-awed by her senior counterparts. She is also a valuable member of the county Under-15 Development Squad. Keep up the great work, Karen.
Inniskeen Camogie Notes
We dropped two points in the championship campaign to Truagh on Wednesday evening last, while Truagh were the fitter team on the day Inniskeen lacked match practice and are still reeling from the loss of our two top players Edel Kierans and Carol Mc Gahon who are in the states for the summer, the good news is that we have Sarah Flynn back after a long break and Pauline Jones after a long winter break, both girls gave 100% for the full sixty minutes and were a joy to watch.
A full turnout at training is expected by our trainer Shane as there is a lot of work to be done in preparation for our next couple of matches.
Next championship match we are up Clontibret ( no venue yet )this will be tough appointment as we went under on our last encounter with them.
Would anybody knowing the where abouts of numbers 2, 16 and 19 camogie jesery’s please report to Aisling as the club would like to be reunited with them again.
Congratulations to Isobel Keirans who played a big part in the Monaghan football team who won the Ulster final by beating Tyrone on Sunday evening , well done Izzie.
Congratulations also go to popular Inniskeen hurler Phillip Brooks and Lorraine Lennon who got married recently.
Truagh Notes
Truagh Senior team played the first round of the Championship against Inniskeen on Monday last in Clontibret.
Truagh got off to a good start when Sharon Mc. Quillan just about five minutes into the game soloed the ball towards the Inniskeen goals and shot for a point, but the ball fell short and went just under the crossbar for a goal for Truagh. This was the kick start to a good nail biting match.
Orla Sheerin and Mairead Mc. Carron continued to pressurize the Inniskeen defence and Mairead Mc. Carron put her name to a further two points. Inniskeen’s Isabel Kieran picked up a couple of points from frees and continued to dominate around the midfield.
Sharon Mc. Quillan stepped up to take a free which she duly converted to a point followed by a goal from play and Paula Mc. Quillan finished the half time score with a point.
The second half was dominated by Inniskeen who gave of their all in bringing the score back and succeeded in scoring a goal. The play was crowded around the Truagh goals on numerous occasions but the backs were strong in defence and managed to get the ball up the field which Mairead Mc. Carron finished it to the net.
