Clare v Waterford, @ Waterford
To date Clare have two wins to their credit with victories over Kilkenny and Cork. Waterford defeated Kilkenny by 3-09 to 2-10 last weekend having previously lost to Cork. As a result of this the game between Clare and Waterford will decide if Clare will progress to the final of the National League, a Banner win will see this happen with ease. However, a loss in Waterford could see Clare, Waterford and Cork embattled in a three way play-off.
Clare will hope to go to the DÚise and repeat recent victories over the home team, having beaten them in the Junior Championship and Munster Intermediate Final last year. Clare will enter this game as favourites and hope that injuries picked up against Cork last weekend will not hamper this journey.
Clare will be quietly confident of a victory in Waterford with the team being strengthened since last year with Orla Slattery and Laura Linnane returning to action for the county. Sharon McMahon is returning from injury which has seen her miss out on all games so far. Dee Corcoran has moved to centre back with Siobhan Lafferty shoring up at full back and her sister Fiona looking very dangerous at full forward. Aiveen O’Shea is going well in the forwards line and all are still vying to impress for their spot in the starting fifteen come championship time, so there is no time for the team to rest on recent performances despite the victories.
Waterford will be looking for revenge of the recent defeats, they took the home defeat to Clare in the Munster Intermediate final badly and will want to reverse that result. They will be hoping again for good performances from Aine Lyng, Patricia Jackman, Lisa Prendergast and Kate Marie Aherne.
