The stage is set for a blockbuster day of finals as the 2026 GAA World Games reach their conclusion at Azzurri Walsh Park Friday
After four days of fiercely contested action at SETU, 16 teams remain standing and will battle it out for silverware in eight cup finals spanning football, ladies football, hurling and camogie.
The day gets underway with the Open Football Cup final before the Open LGFA, Open Hurling and Open Camogie deciders take centre stage. Attention then turns to the elite International Division 1 finals, where clubs and regional selections representing North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East will compete for the most coveted honours of the week.
The World Games saw 115 teams and 2,000 players and coaches jet in for a week-long festival of Gaelic games and culture. Thursday, there was a business forum – World GAA Connects – at Waterford City Council buildings. The expo and forum were addressed by Jarlath Burns, Ministers Charlie McConologue and Neale Richmond and Peter Power of the EU Commission.
