Camogie Association launches æVolunteering for Camogie’
The Camogie Association launched their official æVolunteering for Camogie’ handbook at the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast this evening (Friday, March 25th).
The publication is a guide to recruiting volunteers to participate at all levels of the Camogie Association. It outlines the steps for attracting and retaining volunteers as well as the many ways in which the efforts of volunteers can be acknowledged.
Speaking at the launch President of the Camogie Association Joan O’Flynn:
“”Volunteering is of incalculable value to Camogie. This publication shines a light on how importantly the Association takes the role of the volunteer.
One of the key things we can do to put this into action is to encourage groups who are currently under-represented to volunteer with us at club and county level.
Increasingly, more men are getting involved at all levels in coaching, refereeing and administrative roles. We want to invite more ex-players, more young people, more people with disabilities, more Travellers, more older people, more people from other countries now settled amongst us to join with us and be involved!
By doing this, we will have more skills, more diversity and more experience to draw from.
It is also timely that we publish our first resource on Volunteering during the EU Year of Volunteering 2011. It is also appropriate that this coincides with the introduction of county volunteer of the year awards throughout the Camogie Association.””
Volunteering for Camogie was produced by the Camogie Association’s Volunteer and Officer Support and Development Committee under the Association’s Strategic Development Plan Our Game, Our Passion.
Volunteering for Camogie is available from the Camogie Association and is an appropriate information resource for club, county, school, post primary and third level units.
