All Ireland Club finals set for Croke Park

The All Ireland Club finals are to be held in Croke Park for the first time since 1972. The 2010 Senior and Intermediate Club finals will be staged as a double header on March 6th 2011 in GAA Headquarters.

It is also the first year of an All Ireland competition for the Intermediate club grade. The club championship previously only allowed for senior and junior champions to progress to All Ireland honours.

Speaking about today’s announcement President of the Camogie Association Joan O’Flynn:

“”Following on from this year’s All Ireland finals triple header, it is a further boost to the Association to now have our Camogie club finals played in Croke Park.

It is a fantastic opportunity for club players who previously would never have had the chance to play in Croke Park and it also provides an extra incentive to club players and mentors to reach All Ireland Club Finals Day.

The Camogie Association are delighted that both the Senior and Intermediate Finals will be held there and we would like to extend our thanks to the GAA and also Croke Park Stadium for this opportunity.””

There will also be new All Ireland senior club champions as title holders Cashel and beaten finalists Athenry were defeated in their respective county finals. Both clubs have dominated the club championship for numerous years.
