Galway 2-11
Tipperary 2-7

GALWAY survived a spirited late fightback from Tipperary to claim their second consecutive All-Ireland U16 A camogie title at Tullamore yesterday afternoon.
Leading by 0-7 to 0-3 at half-time, thanks largely to the sharpshooting from placed balls of Rebecca Hennelly, Galway got a further boost when both Maria Brehony and Ailish O’Reilly found the net in the first 10 minutes of the second period.
With player of the game Maria Cooney, daughter of Joe, imperious at centre-back, Galway looked to be coasting to victory as goalkeeper Catriona Daly made some fine saves to keep Tipp out, including from an Aoife Ryan penalty on 51.
The lead could even have been increased further but for a good save from Tipp goalkeeper Orla McEniry from Sara Skehill, but, leading 2-9 to 0-7 with five minutes of normal time left, Galway seemed safe.
Tara Kennedy gave the Premier County some hope though when she fired home the rebound after Daly had saved from Sarah Fryday, and though Orlaith McGrath pointed for Galway , the lead was cut to just three points when Teresa Ryan’s shot was deflected to the net.
Another Hennelly free settled Galway however, and they held on to record a four-point win.
