With less than three weeks to go until the All-Stars Awards, sponsored by Liberty Insurance, we take a look at the nine players nominated for an award in the half-back line for their performances this year!

Karen Kennedy (Tipperary)
This is a first nomination for the Thurles Sarsfields centre back who continues to go from strength to strength for the Premier County. Kennedy was instrumental in Tipperary’s run to the All-Ireland Semi-Final, defending brilliantly while connecting the play. Kennedy has recently claimed the Intermediate county title with her club.

Hannah Looney (Cork)
The versatile student has earned her second All-Stars nomination for her dominant and solid displays for the Rebels this year. Despite wearing the number 15 jersey for the All-Ireland decider in September Looney roamed the pitch, finding space or creating it for her teammates. The four-time All-Ireland champion from Killeagh will be hoping to claim her first All-Stars Award.

Hannah Hegarty (Dublin)
It has been another great year for the 20-year-old dual star who has captained the Dublin Camogie and LGFA minor teams in the past. The DCU student has received back-to-back All-Stars nominations and at such a young age with that potential, it is easy to see why. The St. Jude’s star has great confidence which transpires to her teammates on the pitch. She will be hoping to claim her maiden solo award.

Claire Phelan (Kilkenny)
The five-time nominee lined out at wing back for the Cats this season and produced strong and confident displays in the black and amber jersey. The teacher from the Lisdowney club is yet to receive an All-Stars award and consistant performances this year, this could be the year that Phelan finally gets her hands on the coveted individual award.

Róisín Egan (Offaly)
One of only two Offaly players to receive an All-Stars nomination this year Egan has been instrumental in driving forward from the Offaly half-back line. Egan claimed the player of the match award in the Championship defeat to Tipperary a few months ago and she can be described as someone who consistently plays with her heart on her sleeve. The dual star is receiving her maiden All-Stars nomination.

Anne Dalton (Kilkenny)
A household name within the Camogie scene Dalton is a very stylish player, with fantastic skill and ability. The St. Lachtain’s Freshford star is a multiple All-Stars winner, having picked up five awards and her ninth nomination.  The 2016 All-Ireland champion produced some of her best camogie this year, having received a Player of the League nomination in April. As a result of her excellent league and Championship performances Dalton is one of the three Player of the Year nominees.

Davina Tobin (Kilkenny)
The Emeralds wing back has grown nicely into her wing back position for the Cats this year, having previously played as full back over the last number of seasons. This year, she was very influential in the Kilkenny set up being further up the pitch and getting involved in general play. This is Tobin’s second All-Stars nomination, having received her first in 2016.

Áine Lyng (Waterford)
Our first nominee from Waterford is the Gaultier centre-back Áine Lyng. Lyng has been a veteran on the Waterford camogie panel, having played in the All-Ireland Junior final back in 2009. Since claiming a Soaring Star for her performances in 2009 and 2010 respectively, she has received a further five All-Stars nominations and this is her first for 10 years. Lyng has yet to claim one of the coveted awards and she will be hoping this is her year.

Chloe Sigerson (Cork)
The 2016 Soaring Stars recipient is receiving her maiden All-Stars nomination after a string of impressive performances for the Rebels. Not only have her performances merited her with a nomination, Sigerson is also nominated for the overall Senior Player of the Year award, demonstrating her effectiveness in the wing-back position for the champions, scoring three points in the decider in September. The Killeagh star is one to watch for the future.
