The Camogie Association is seeking host clubs to expand the number of teenage summer camps across the country. These camps were piloted in 2023 and feedback was very positive from all involved. Each camp incorporates Camogie with other activities; for example, other sports, hobbies, interests, leadership talks and is for girls aged 14-17 years.

This camp targets teenage girls who enjoy the social aspect of Camogie, enjoy spending time with their friends and trying other activities. This camp should tap into other interests’ Camogie players may have.

These camps will be a total of 12 hours across 3 days-5 days, which can be done in the evening (2.5 hrs per day) or during the day (4hrs). Hours can be shortened across the week if doing evening sessions and extend to a 4/5-day camp. Each day must consist of 1 Camogie session (1hr) and 2 other activities per day = 6 different activities throughout the week. Examples such as rugby, painting, creative writing, media/photography, volleyball, music and leadership. Be as creative as you wish with the activities.

The Camogie Association are looking for clubs to host a 3-day camp on the 31st of July, 1st and 2nd of August or 5-days from 29th of July to 2nd of August if doing it in the evening.

Applications are now open for clubs to host a camp in their club. Each successful club will receive a grant of €500 to host the camp, plus 50% of the participation fee following the completion of the camp. Registration is through the Camogie Association; we will supply a booking link to be shared to networks to sign up for the camp.

Host clubs must supply the venue and coaches (both Camogie, and other hobbies). The following will be provided by the Camogie Association; template for scheduling the camp, registration links and support for promoting the camps and supply hoodies for each participant. The club will oversee the running of the camp and communicate with the participants on the layout of the camp.

The overarching aim is to provide, inspire and support more teenage girls to be more involved in Camogie. We are aiming to provide this opportunity to motivate young girls to enjoy playing Camogie, build their confidence and empower them to play more Camogie in a relaxed environment while also incorporating other things that they may be interested in.

Deadline for expressing interest is 12pm on Tuesday 19th of March 2024.
