On Wednesday 3rd February in the Ashbourne Cup quarter-final, UUJ will travel to Kinnegad to take on 2009 Purcell Cup winners Athlone IT.  Athlone have made consistent progress in third level camogie in recent years and will be keen to make an impression on the Ashbourne. This match however may prove to be a step too far.  UUJ won comfortably when the two teams met during the league campaign.  They have a wealth of talent from across Ulster with names such as captain Karen McMullan, recent Soaring Star recipient Karen Tinnelly, sisters Karen and Paula Gribben from Down, as well as Maebh McGoldrick from Derry and Shannon Graham from Antrim.  They do have an injury worry with Sara Louise Carr and it is unlikely she will take part in the game however they have the strength in depth to cope with this and plenty of players fighting for their position.  Athlone have lost many of last years winning team and are unable to rely on the prolific Arlene Watkins from Offaly while UUJ are strong all over the field and come 4pm they will be expecting to compete in the Ashbourne Cup semi-final against CIT or WIT.
