Speaking this weekend at the Association’s National Congress in Kildare President Joan O’Flynn described the goals, which are part of the Association’s National Development Plan as æachievable and realistic’ but she stressed it would require all elements of the organisation working in tandem in order to achieve this.
“”This is the roadmap for the Association over the next five years. We have a strategy which focuses on participation and growing the game of camogie. For instance, if you look at our current club base we have over 540 clubs and we intend to grow that to over 750 by 2015. The key is to ensure that all elements of the association, full-time team, voluntary committees, provincial councils and county boards get behind this plan and work to achieve the goals that have been set.””
æOur Game, Our Passion’, The Camogie Association National Development Plan 2010-2015 was unveiled to over 150 delegates Saturday afternoon. President of the GAA Christy Cooney also addressed the gathering and highlighted the strong and vibrant working relationship between both associations.
Congress delegates also voted unanimously to adopt the motion proposing the compulsory use of helmets for all players engaged in training and playing. The rule will come into force at the beginning of next year.
The 2011 Congress will take place in Ulster with Belfast the proposed venue for the event.
