Camogie Association welcomes Setanta Sports broadcast

The Camogie Association have welcomed confirmation by Setanta Sports of the upcoming live broadcast of the Irish Daily Star league clash of Dublin and Kilkenny at Croke Park on Saturday night (February 26th).

The second round Irish Daily Star Camogie League tie throws in under lights at 5.30pm as part of a double head billing at GAA HQ under this year’s Dublin GAA æSpring Series’.

Live coverage of the game commences at 5.25pm while at 7.30pm Dublin footballers face Kerry.

Speaking about the announcement President of the Camogie Association Joan O’Flynn:

“”We are constantly striving to raise our profile even further and to secure increased television coverage from all broadcast stations. This recent development is another boost to the association and allows a wider audience to view our game on the biggest sporting stage.

In addition to the live broadcast, the staging of the Irish Daily Star Camogie League match at Croke Park is another positive, particularly in advance of our double header All Ireland Club finals the following weekend (March 6th).””

President O’Flynn also commended Dublin GAA and Dublin Camogie Board:

“”Congratulations and thanks to all in Dublin Camogie Board and Dublin GAA for
their initiative in promoting our games to a wide audience this Spring.
I know there are positive and constructive relationships and co-operation at
both county and club level in Dublin across the Gaelic codes.””

The Irish Daily Star, who recently signed a two year sponsorship deal with the Camogie Association, also welcomed the upcoming broadcast:

“”It’s a great boost for the Irish Daily Star camogie league and we are delighted that Setanta have come on board to broadcast the game. We look forward hopefully to many more live broadcasts throughout the year,”” said Irish Daily Star Sports Editor, Eoin Brannigan.
