COMMERCIALS CAMOGIE CLUB LAUNCH

Saturday 19th March marked a new era for camogie in South County Dublin with the launch of Commercials Camogie Club.  There were plenty of boys and girls present for the club open day last Saturday on a sunny morning in Rathcoole to sample some camogie and hurling with lots of fun games and activities.

Dublin Senior Hurler Dotsy O’Callaghan and Former All-Ireland Winning Dublin Camogie Captain Ann McCluskey were in attendance on the morning to officially launch the Camogie Club.

There have been girls playing hurling in Commercials for a number of years so it was decided last year to try these get the girls playing by themselves and to set up a camogie section for 2011.

The ground work of the last year has paid off and Commercials Camogie Club have entered a U’13 and U’11 team into juvenile leagues in Dublin this year.

They will be hoping to expand on this for the future and the signs look good with the number of players around on Saturday morning.

Commercials has a rich history in Rathcoole as one of the oldest established hurling clubs in Dublin and with its superb facilities and prime location on the Naas road it is not only an attractive venue for the locals but for travelling teams and so it was to be the venue for a national senior league camogie fixture between Dublin and Tipperary on Saturday also.

All of this activity and a great day topped off with a Ceili in the clubhouse that evening.

Congratulations and continued success to all involved in the club.
