Connacht Camogie Forum

 

 

The inaugural Connacht Camogie Forum will take place in the Claregalway hotel on Friday April 1st. 

 

 

The aim of the forum is to link Camogie clubs and communities within the province and to increase knowledge in areas of the game such as coaching, volunteering and administration.

 

 

Joan O Flynn President of the Camogie Association is the special guest on the night. Dinner is served at 6pm for attendees with forum commencing at 6.30pm.

 

 

Speakers include Mary O Connor, National Director of Camogie and winner of 7 All Ireland Camogie medals and 3 All-stars with Cork. She will discuss the issue of retaining teenage players in sport.

 

 

Des Ryan Fitness Education Manager with the IRFU will discuss fitness testing for camogie players. Des was involved in fitness testing the Galway senior camogie team that reached the All Ireland final in 2008.

 

 

Best ways of recruiting volunteers in your club will be discussed by Virginia Moyles from the Galway Volunteer Centre while Bronagh Gaughan will discuss learnings from the inaugural Athlone IT Camogie Administration course that took place in 2010 concluding in the early part of this year.

 

The cost of attending the forum is €10.
