ORLA COTTER HONOURED

 A big day recently for Orla Cotter who received the 96/103fm Rochestown Park Hotel Sports award for September in regonition of her contribution to Corks All Ireland success over Kilkenny. In a joint award ceremony Orla was named winner along with Angela Walsh who was honoured for her role in the ladies football win. Angela is also a renowned camogie player having won a senior medal in 2006. Orla holds honours with her club from under 14 to senior  championship and she is also the holder of All Ireland under 16 medal and three senior All Ireland medals. She has won provincial honours with Cork and has All Ireland junior colleges honours as well as senior and junior national league medals. Orla was the only player to play in two senior All Ireland finals in the same year in 2006 winning Senior and senior B All Ireland medals. She won her first All star award in 2008 and is surely in the reckoning for another this year, Orla was joined at the function by her parents Brigid and John as well as family members and club officials and players from the St Catherine’s club, the county board was represented by Marion Mc Carthy while selectors Lillian Zincant and Mick O’ Regan were also present. 96//103FM’s Finbarr Mc Carthy in making the presentations spoke about both players committment and dedication to their sports he paid tribute to both Cork teams on their successful seasons.

Shay Livingstone General Manager of the Rochestown Park Hotel joined in the tributes to two succesful sportswomen and said his hotel was committed to supporting and sponsoring ladies sports in Cork.
