which, in conjunction with RTE, commemorate its former Gaelic Games
correspondent the late Mick Dunne. Inaugurated last year, the awards
comprise eight categories, four of which — PRO of the Year;
Broadcaster of the Year; Photo of the Year and Published article of the
Year and known as the Mick Dunne Memorial Awards are sponsored by
RTE. The remaining categories — Best match programme; Best provincial
newspaper coverage; Best Local Radio and a Special Award as decided by
the adjudicating panel are sponsored by Cumann Camogaiochta na nGael.
Nominations are now being sought for the awards and closing date for
acceptance of entries is Tuesday December 30th. The winners will
received their awards at a function in Croke Park in early February.

Speaking on the Media awards, Liz Howard, President Camann Cam¾gaÝochta na
nGael stressed that the importance of a consistent approach to the
media in order to maximise publicity for camogie. This is a priority and
links in with the Association’s Strategic Plan. It was a matter, she
said, of being consistent and persistent in providing the media with
quality information.
In thanking RTE for its support, the President said it was most
appropriate that the station’s former Gaelic Games correspondent Mick
Dunne should be commemorated in these awards. Mick Dunne had a great
loyalty to camogie and gave the game extensive coverage on both radio
and television.
She urged the various media units, camogie units and indeed interested
members of the public who might come across anything they considered
appropriate for inclusion in any of the categories, to respond
positively so that the awards would adequately reflect the importance
the Association attached to them””
