Mayo Post-Primary Camogie Finals take place!

Well done to the all of the girls from Ballyhaunis Community School, Sacred Heart School Westport and St.Joseph's Secondary School Castlebar who competed in the Post-Primary Schools Junior & Senior Camogie Competitions held recently in Castlebar.

Despite the damp conditions, over 70 girls participated and a great day of Camogie was had by all. Congratulations to Ballyhaunis Community School who emerged victorious in both the Junior & Senior Competitions.

Thank you to all those who organised the day and who afforded the girls the opportunity to play in the Competitions.

Offaly Camogie Coaching & Development Workshops

On Sunday October 1st, Offaly Camogie commenced a series of Coaching & Development Workshops for players across the county which saw over 40 girls attend. These workshops are aimed at providing specific skills coaching and information on injury prevention, team play, specific fitness and general camogie skills.

Last Sunday saw ground-striking, lifting under pressure and ball-wall skills take place, along with insightful injury prevention warm ups and running techniques.

These will run over the coming weeks, with Paudie Butler due to attend Week 2 Workshop and a one day camp during the Halloween break being organised. It is hoped that each child will take away something additional and informative that they can work on with their club and at home. Along with the new drills and new friends, players got to experience coaching from some of their Camogie idols and former Offaly star, Aoife Kelly and Elaine Dermody. Both were fresh off a club county final win the previous day and were on hand to offer some valuable coaching advice and encouragement, along with a host more of highly experienced coaches from across Offaly.
