The Sligo U14 Camogie team were honoured last Monday night October 8th with a Civic reception in the Sligo County Council offices. This was a huge honour for both the team and management. The team had a very successful season competing well in the Feile na nGael competition earlier in the year and recently capturing the U14 All Ireland Division 5 title. Congratulations to all involved. 
 
 
Cavan Lifestyle Academy – October 6th 2012
 
A Camogie Lifestyle Academy took place recently in Cavan for girls aged 13-17. The Lifestyle Academy was delivered by Ulster GAA HDO Paul Divilly, Cavan Camogie Players and also Camogie Regional Development officer Ger Gribben. The Academy consisted of Skill Development, Wall Ball, Nutrition and Lifestyle, County Player talk and match practise.

67 girls attended the academy, which was organised excellently by Cavan Camogie CDO Anne Donnellan and a special word of thanks goes to Anne for all her hard work with the development squads.

Cavan Camogie Chairperson Peter Brady and Cavan Senior Camogie managers Tom Walsh and Philip Brady also attended the day and gave their advice to the girls as well as the current County Camogie players. A huge thank you to Paul, Peter, Tom, Philip and all the county players and all the development squad coaches for their assistance in rolling out this initiative. The future of Cavan Camogie looks very bright!
 
Upcoming ‘Camogie for All’ Workshop
These workshops are both theory and practical and are designed to give coaches and teachers ideas and inspiration to adapt their Camogie sessions to include girls with a disability.
Participants will learn the theory behind Adapted Physical Activity and Disability Sports and will also develop their ability to adapt their training sessions for all ability groups.
Topics include: 
Perceptions & experiences, Disability Awareness, 
Barriers and potential solutions to participation, 
Principles of adapting using the TREE Concept
How to adapt your training sessions to include all
How to develop fun warm up activities, drills, game layout and cool downs to include all ability levels

‘Camogie for All’ Come Try It Day:
A Come Try It Day will take place in Athlone I.T. for local primary schools on Thursday 18th October next. The workshops will consist of 4 units including:
 
Wheelchair hurling 
Camogie game with rules modified for a person with a hearing impairment 
Drills – adapted for physical disability 
Games & Warm ups

Camogie for All Workshops
Two Camogie for All Workshop took place last week in Loughrea Friday October 5th and in Dublin on Saturday October 6th October. Sarah Flynn tutored both workshops which 20 enthusiastic participants have enjoyed to date.
 
Leinster Club Forum – 10th November 2012 Athlone I.T
 
The Leinster Club Forum will take place in Athlone I.T. on November 10th 2012. The forum will provide club coaches, managers, administrators, players and anyone with an interest in seeing camogie progress to the next level with an opportunity to hear and see from many top speakers.

A broad range of topics will be covered both practically & theoretically from coach education to teenage retention, sports science to much more. Crossmolina sessions continue indoors with over 30 girls attending last week.
Every Wednesday 7-8pm in Crossmolina National school.
 
Ballygar Come Hurl with me
Ballygar ‘Come Hurl with Me’ programmes for parents took place on Wednesday October 10th with a great response from parents who came to learn the basics and who will volunteer in the club. Next session for Come Hurl with me takes place on Wednesday 24th October from 6-7pm. All parents and volunteers welcome
