Cavan Coaching – Joint Camogie and Hurling Workshops

Cavan Hurling and Camogie Development have joined forces again to deliver a Coaching Seminar for all Coaches in the Cavan area.
A coaching seminar was held last Saturday (13th April) with two coaches, Eoin Breathnach of Waterford Coaching and Games and Gerard Gribben Camogie Development Officer for Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Meath.

The venue was Kingspan Breffni Park at 10.30am (3G) and was free of charge to attend. This workshop was open to coaches from all codes and any county and the sessions were of great benefit to coaches who coach the ages between 6-12 and 13-18 in either hurling or camogie. 12 coaches attended the workshops with Eoin Morrissey Cavan GAA HDM and Paul Divilly Ulster GAA HDO also on hand giving advice and tips!

Well done to all involved for an excellent morning of new coaching ideas and sharing of ideas and tips! A special word of thanks to Eoin Breathnach, for travelling from Waterford for the day. His excellent knowledge and experience will be of great benefit for everyone to use in the future.

A ‘Come Hurl With Me’ programme in Tullamore came to an end recently. The Programme ran every Saturday morning for 1 hour for six weeks. The aim of the programme was to increase the involvement of parents helping out with underage coaching and to provide each participant with the proper coaching information and technique to coach the basic skills required to play the game whether that practice happens in the club or at home.

A special thanks to Offaly Sports Partnership for supporting the initiative. Thanks also to county stars Sheila Sullivan & Karen Brady for helping to deliver the programme. The programme was a huge success with approx. 15 mammies & daddies taking part. The Camogie club are delighted with its new members and a few parents who are now going to help out having completed the programme.
