The counties of Laois and Offaly are buzzing with excitement today as FÚile na nGael 2008 gets under way.  Camogie teams from around Ireland and a team from Warwickshire in England will play almost 100 camogie matches between now and Sunday before the 2008 winners are decided.

The first of the teams arrived in Laois and Offaly on Thursday night with remaining arriving for the first games at 2pm today (Friday).  Laois and Offaly clubs are joined by St Lachtains and Ballyragget of Kilkenny and Burgess, Silvermines, Toomevara and Thurles of Tipperary in hosting 24 visiting camogie teams which include Erin go Bragh of Warwickshire. 

The Mullagh camogie team of Galway will lead out the parade which commences in O’Moore Park at 7.15pm on Friday evening.  Uachtarßn Cumann CamogaÝochta na nGael Liz Howard will join the presidents of the GAA and Handball Association on the review stand for the Parade.  The President will visit venues throughout Laois and Offaly over the course of the weekend. 

Twenty individual stars will also participate in the FÚile na nGael Skill Star Competition on Saturday in Portlaoise GAA Grounds starting at 1pm.
