Uachtarßn Chumann L·thchleas Gael Criost¾ir Ë Cuana launched CI+ Transport Gaels GAA Club celebrations to mark 125 years of Gaelic games in the organisation.

To mark this historic milestone, Transport Gaels will be hosting a series of Football, Hurling and Camogie matches in Croke Park on Saturday, 8th October 2011.

“”The ties between the GAA and CIE are strong and numerous and it gives me great pleasure to acknowledge this special milestone for the legions of CIE employees who have played our games at various different levels down through the years.

“”In addition to embracing our games, CIE’s role in the popularisation of football and hurling over the years through the provision of transport has been invaluable and the service they provide remains as relevant as ever.

“”I wish everyone involved in the upcoming celebrations every success and hope our games continue to go from strength to strength in the organisation.””

A celebrity charity football match will finish off the day’s celebrations. TDs, prominent members of the Irish sports media and former inter-county players will be battling it out in a special half hour football match in aid of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Special Olympics Ireland.
