16 GAA tutors become Camogie tutors in Dublin last weekend. A full day assimilation course sanctioned by Coaching Ireland was delivered by Camogie tutors on saturday last in St.Canices boys school Dublin.

Some of the top tutors in the GAA agreed to complete this course so that they too could deliver the Camogie foundation coaching Course- ‘Camßn -Get a Grip’ along with the GAA courses they already deliver.

Catherine Bird from Coaching Ireland was present on the day to ensure smooth running of the assimilation course. Fiona O Driscoll, Damien Young, Yvonne Byrne and Gerard Gribben tutored from a Camogie perspective. This is the first of a number of Assimilation courses that the Camogie Association hope to roll out in an effort to increase the number of tutors so that more courses can be run out and therefore more coaches in clubs around the country qualified to coach their girls. This in turn increases both the standard of our game and the numbers playing the game.

Thanks to the GAA tutors who completed this course and best wishes in the courses ahead. Thanks to Collette Coady secretary of the National Coaching Committee for venue and organisation of the course. Thanks to the Camogie Tutors for their work both on the the day and in the preparation of the course with Coaching Ireland, Jenny Duffy and Mary O Connor.

Please check out the Games Development page of the website and under ‘Coaching updates’  there is an application form to book a course if you are interested. Now is the perfect time to up skill during the autumn and winter months!
