Schools receive their Jerseys ahead of School Season
In May 2019, 4 schools were drawn from the drum of those who participated in the Leinster Junior Novice School Games. Leinster Camogie proudly sponsored these 4 sets of jerseys and last week 2 sets were delivered ahead of both schools’ games kicking off.
In Killina Presentation Secondary school, outside Tullamore, Mr.Lawless and 3 of the players were presented with their Blue and Yellow kit, to the delight of the school. Having participated in the Development Initiative last year they have now decided to enter Leinster Post Primary competition for 2019/2020 and were due to have their first game this week. Best wishes to Mr.Lawless and players in the future.
Next stop was St.Leo’s College in Carlow Town. The all girls schools were presented their jerseys in the presence of Leinster Secretary – Linda Kenny, Leinster Development Officer Angela Gahan (also a teacher in St.Leos) and Sabrina Larkin (Camogie Association). Their teacher Ms. Lennon was thrilled with the new set as they look forward to participating in the Cross-Border development initiative with Carlow/Kildare/Meath between now and midterm. We look forward to having St.Leos back with us again next year in development games.
2 remaining schools are set to receive their jerseys in the coming weeks. They are Colaiste Raithin and Blessington Community College, both of Wicklow. So watch this space!!!
Carlow train up Referees for 2020
22 young girls from across all clubs in Carlow took part in the recent Young Whistlers course in Carlow IT on Tuesday 24th September. This was fantastic to see so many young girls out and upskilling in refereeing for Camogie. They will prove to be big assets to their clubs in 2020.
19 people also completed the Foundation Referee course on the same day. These represented 10 different clubs including visitors from Kildare and Kilkenny and will go on to the begin their refereeing at underage camogie in gaining experience. Many thanks to Carlow IT for the use of their facilities and Donal Ryan and Paul Flanagan for delivery of the courses and to Carlow County Board for organising.
