The Dublin U14 and 16 teams had to settle for second best against Kilkenny over the week-end with U16 side going down narrowly to the Cats in the Leinster Final replay at Trinity Gaels Grounds.

Kilkenny playing with the breeze were the dominant team throughout the first half.  But Dublin did well to keep the score to just 6 points approaching half time until a goal put 9 points between the sides at the break.

Things looked ominous for the Dublin girls. But they responded magnificantly and kept Kilkenny to just one more point throughout the half. Dublin added 5 points and had evereyone on their feet as they scored 2 goals late in the game. Kilkenny ran out worthy winners 2-8 to 2-5.

Dublin can now look forward to the under 16 All Ireland series. Last year they were narrowly defeated by Cork in the semi-final. Kilkenny are currently ALL Irleand under 16 champions.

Scorers for Dublin Laura Burns 0-4, Miriam Twomey 1-1and Ciara Donovan 1-0

Dublin had great performances from Eabha Levins in goals, Deirdre Johnson at full back and Ciara Donovan at wing back. Miriam Twomey and Laura Burns had great second half performances. Byrne, Laura Fennelly, Aisling Dumphy, Eimear Mulhall and Michelle Farrell were outstanding for Kilkenny.
