The Camogie Association have announced that O’Neills are to sponsor their Post-Primary Schools camogie championships.

In a move that further strengthens the long established relationship between both organisations the arrangement will take effect from the latter stages of the Post-Primary competition.

Almost 3,000 girls aged 12-19 take part in Post-Primary schools camogie nationwide, with over 180 schools competing annually.

President of the Camogie Association Aileen Lawlor said:

“It is fantastic to see O’Neills supporting and promoting the growth and development of camogie amongst our young players. At present there are up to 3,000 girls aged 12-19 years of age, taking part in camogie at Post-Primary level.

These girls are provided with the opportunity to experience playing camogie during their school days, both competitively and recreationally. Today’s announcement is a strong endorsement of the importance of supporting Post-Primary schools camogie. I want to acknowledge and thank O’Neills for their support in this initiative.”

Tony Towell of O’Neills said:

“On behalf of O’Neills, I would like to wish the Post-Primary Schools every success. O’Neills have been part of the Camogie Association family for decades and we are delighted to be involved with such a wonderful sporting event that promotes the involvement of so many young girls. We wish all competing teams the very best of luck.”

The Senior All Ireland Semi-finals take place on February 16th and finals on March 9th. The Junior Semi-Finals take place on February 23rd followed by the finals on March 16th. There are four grades in category.

Each of this year’s winning schools will receive an allocation of specially designed O’Neills helmets while the player of the match in each final will be presented with a customised jersey.
