The 3rd Peter Downey Referee Academy application process is now open.
Peter DowneyThe late Peter Downey was a highly regarded Camogie and GAA referee. A proud Inniscarra and Cork man, he was the chairperson of the Camogie Association’s National Referee Committee for several years.

Peter was highly innovative and was instrumental in setting up the first National Camogie Referee Academy. Peter drove the Referee Academy on, helping and guiding many referees along the way. He cast a great listening ear to those who needed advice on and off the field of play. He had a great integrity and passion for the game which was evident to those who had the pleasure to meet and get to know him.
Peter helped develop the Camogie Association’s Referee Pathway which was launched in 2015. Peter worked tirelessly to promote refereeing and his knowledge of Camogie and GAA was unequalled. He has left an indelible mark on the game of Camogie and in the hearts of those who knew him.
