The Dubs were forced to settle for a draw in their opening match against Limerick having established an 8-point lead at half-time. Siobhán Kehoe was lethal for the Dubs from placed-balls with 7-points to her name. Kilkenny got the defence of their title off to a perfect start with a 10-point win over Clare although they were made to work for it having trailed at the interval.
