Austin Stack Park Tralee is a famed football venue, but on Wed April 21st, the famous stadium hosted the final instalment of æPUCK AROUND TRALEE’ as 110 girls from Moyderwell NS and Scoil Eoin Ballonagh took part in a Camogie Blitz.

Fun and enjoyment was the aim of the day as all girls played several games in the GO GAMES format. Both schools had been receiving skills coaching during and after school since late February and enjoyed the opportunity to test their new found skills in the blitz games.

As part of the RAPID initiative, at the end of the blitz, each participant received their own hurley, sliotar and camogie T-Shirt. Munster Camogie Development Officer Deirdre Murphy and RAPID Development Officer Hazel Byrne are hopeful this will entice the girls to continue to practise and improve their skills at home.

Huge thanks to coaches Stephen Goggin, Eamonn Fitzgerald and Brian O’Leary and teachers Niamh Griffin, Helena Creagh and Laura Daly of Moyderwell and Triona Daly and Brenda Burke of Scoil Eoin who have been working with the girls for the last number of weeks and to Tralee I.T. students Michael Kiely, Danielle Sheedy and Sarah Sexton who helped out in Austin Stack Park.

Both schools are looking forward to their next outing and it is hoped that there may be sufficient interest in the game of camogie to look at setting up a club in the Tralee area.
