Garda College v DCU

The Garda College overcame a fancied DCU side 3-3 to 1-6 to book their place in the coveted Purcell Cup semi-final. DCU were the better side in the first half leading at the break 1-4 to 1-2 thanks to a well taken goal by Chrissy Kenny while the industrious Elaine Gallery goaled for the Garda College. Despite playing against the breeze in the second half, DCU stayed in control and dominated possession with a fine point coming from Siobhan Fahy. At this stage, DCU appeared likely winners. However, with ten minutes remaining Gallery netted her second goal for the Garda College. With three minutes left Garda College goalkeeper, Rosie Kenneally stepped outfield to take a free which found its way to the back of the DCU net giving her side a three point victory.
