Sp¾rt agus Spraoi na Colßisti – a one day camogie blitz is a Women In Sport initiative. This was to be Waterford IT GAA Club’s third successive time hosting the blitz in conjunction with Cumann Cam¾gaÝochta na nGael and the Irish Sports Council.

The action packed day got underway at 10am with half of the 22 teams playing fun 7-a-side games while the remainder had some skills training under the care of 8 coaches. The coaching included drills for all the basic skills including, striking, catching and hand passing, while the girls also displayed fast feet as they hopped their way through ladders and tested their reaction with a ball catcher net. At 11.30am a short break was had before the groups alternated from matches to skills and skills to matches.

The games were contested wholeheartedly and the coaching was also a great success as every participant showed a great willingness to learn and practice their skills. At 2pm a series of finals took place while afterwards all the tired and happy players and coaches enjoyed a tasty meal in the college to top off a great day.
