THIRD LEVEL CAMOGIE – DIVISION 1 LEAGUE FINAL

This Sunday February sees the meeting of Waterford IT and UCD in the Division 1 League final in Cloneen GAA Club, Kilkenny @ 2pm. UCD are current Ashbourne champions and league holders and have once again got the year off to an encouraging start. Unbeaten in the league they have disposed off UCC, NUIG and UUJ and will no doubt be looking to get the better of WIT on Sunday. WIT have had an encouraging run in the league so far with convincing victories over DCU, CIT and Athlone IT. Their toughest test to date was a home game against UL. After an excellent battle a late goal by UL meant the sides ended all square WIT 1-13 to UL’s 2-10.

All-Ireland champions Wexford have a number of  representatives on both teams with Mary and Una Leacy lining out for UCD while Ursula Jacob leads WIT’s charges. UCD will also look to Mairead Luttrel  and Rena Buckley to be in her usual top form while WIT have experienced players in Grainne Brennan and Susan Keane to turn too.

The game is guaranteed to be a cracker as UCD bid to retain their title while WIT  hope to get the better of their opponents who defeated them last year in the Ashbourne Quarter-Final. No doubt a win for either side will be a great boost ahead of their Ashbourne campaigns which begins on February 13th when UCD face UL and WIT face UCC.
