U14 National Blitz Programme brings season to an exciting close

The U14 National Blitz Programme reached its grand conclusion last weekend, with eight divisions played out across seven venues in Dublin, Meath, and Kildare. The event brought together Camogie teams from across the country, delivering a feast of competitive camogie and showcasing the depth of young talent in the game.

Mary Moran Cup – Kilcock GAA

Kilcock GAA hosted the Mary Moran Cup, where the competition was fierce from the outset. Making their debut at this level, Derry impressed with a strong run to the Cup Final, where they faced Tipperary in a highly entertaining contest. The Premier County girls held firm to take the honours on the day.

Elsewhere in the division:

  • 2nd Place Final – Limerick emerged winners.
  • 3rd Place Final – Galway came out on top.
  • 4th Place Final – Clare claimed victory.

Lily Spence Division – St Anne’s GAA, South Dublin

Warm but breezy conditions greeted the Lily Spence Division, which went right down to the wire in both groups. Waterford and Wexford progressed to the Cup Final, with the Déise taking a dramatic one-point win.

Other results included:

  • 2nd Place Final – Cork took the win.
  • 3rd Place Final – Offaly came through on top.
  • 4th Place Final – Antrim secured the honours.

Rosina McManus Division – Meath Centre of Excellence

At the Rosina McManus Division, the standard of play matched the fine conditions. After a series of thrilling matches, Kilkenny and Kildare advanced to the Cup Final, with Kilkenny producing a composed and clinical performance to secure the title.

Also in this division:

  • 2nd Place Final – Cork claimed victory.
  • 3rd Place Final – Clare edged Wexford after extra time in a nail-biting clash.
  • 4th Place Final – Laois overcame Dublin.

Mairead Meehan Division – Naomh Mearnóg GAA

Naomh Mearnóg provided a lively setting for the Mairead Meehan Division, with tight group-stage games setting up the final pairings. Derry maintained their winning momentum to lift the Cup after defeating Meath in the decider.

Other placings:

  • 2nd Place Final – Tipperary triumphed.
  • 3rd Place Final – Westmeath beat Carlow.

Sophie Brack Division – Kiltale GAA

The Sophie Brack Division delivered end-to-end excitement in Kiltale. Down and Armagh contested a thrilling Cup Final, with Down pulling away late to secure the title.

Further results:

  • 2nd Place Final – Waterford overcame Roscommon.
  • 3rd Place Final – Clare defeated Kerry.

Five-Team Division – Inisfails GAA, Dublin

The day’s only five-team round-robin division took place in Inisfails GAA, with Laois 2, Kildare 2, Cavan 1, Offaly 2, and Dublin 3 all facing each other. Every game was competitive, providing valuable game time for all involved.

Final results:

  • Cup Final – Cavan beat Offaly.
  • 2nd Place Final – Dublin edged Kildare.

Mary Lynch Division – Trim GAA

The Mary Lynch Division in Trim was full of high-energy clashes. Tyrone proved the most consistent, lifting the Cup after a strong campaign.

Other placings:

  • 2nd Place Final – Meath came out on top.
  • 3rd Place Final – Down secured victory.
  • 4th Place Final – Mayo battled hard throughout the day.

U14 Development Division – Naomh Mearnóg GAA

The U14 Development Division also took place at Naomh Mearnóg, where Monaghan impressed from start to finish, clinching the Cup with style.

Additional results:

  • 2nd Place Final – Westmeath took the win.
  • 3rd Place Final – Armagh proved too strong.
  • 4th Place Final – Carlow gave a committed performance.

A Celebration of Young Talent

This year’s U14 National Blitz Programme was a celebration of skill, commitment, and sportsmanship. Across all divisions, the matches were played in the right spirit, with players, coaches, referees, and volunteers contributing to a memorable weekend for everyone involved.

The future of camogie is bright – and it was on full display last weekend.
